About The Position

The Resident Assistant (RA) provides direct care and support to residents in our Memory Care community. This position is responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promoting dignity and independence, ensuring safety, and contributing to a compassionate and structured environment for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The ideal candidate is patient, dependable, attentive, and passionate about senior care.

Requirements

  • Desire to work with seniors in an environment that upholds their privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality.
  • Able to organize and utilize time appropriately to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work well with others and to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Well-groomed and a willingness to follow dress requirements.
  • Cheerful, enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn new knowledge/skills.
  • Resident Assistant is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, fingers, feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and smell.
  • Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to SO pounds or more.
  • Must have a clear criminal background.
  • Must have a clear drug screen.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively with Residents, Families, Guests, and other associates.
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Six months of work experience in a senior living setting is preferred.
  • High School Graduate or GED preferred.
  • It is not required to be a CNA (Certified Nursing Aide) to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, hygiene, mobility, and feeding as needed).
  • Provide cueing and redirection for residents with cognitive impairment.
  • Monitor residents for changes in condition and report concerns promptly.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation using proper safety techniques.
  • Ensure residents’ rooms are clean, safe, and organized.
  • Perform regular safety checks and monitor residents prone to wandering.
  • Follow all infection control and emergency procedures.
  • Respond appropriately to behavioral expressions common in dementia care.
  • Encourage participation in activities and social interaction.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship.
  • Promote resident dignity, respect, and independence.
  • Document care provided and report changes to supervisor.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and families as appropriate.
  • Participate in shift reports and care plan meetings when required.
