Resident Assistants are an essential part of the wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to maintain their highest level of functional independence and psychosocial wellness. This role operates under the direction and supervision of an RN or LPN. Key aspects include building rapport with residents, assisting with daily living activities, conducting group or one-on-one activities, ensuring safety, serving meals, maintaining room cleanliness, and handling resident laundry. The Resident Assistant is responsible for observing and reporting any resident concerns, changes in condition, complaints, grievances, or instances of abuse to the Wellness Director or Executive Director. The role also involves following established safety regulations, communicating with family members and visitors, responding to emergency calls, providing post-mortem care, completing required documentation, and participating in mandatory trainings and Wellness meetings. Compliance with American House’s Mission, philosophy, and all departmental policies and procedures is also required.
