About The Position

The Resident Assistant/Personal Care Aide (PCA) provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents of the community. This role involves reporting incidents, maintaining knowledge of policies, assisting residents with daily tasks, performing housekeeping duties, responding to resident needs, and participating in activity programs. The position also requires maintaining confidentiality, assisting residents with mobility, and supporting new residents during their transition.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully completed approved personal care aide program per state regulations as applicable.
  • Able to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing.
  • Organized and able to work well with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be a contributing member of the nursing team and follow instructions of the supervisor.
  • Must be polite and considerate of residents, visitors, and co-workers at all times.
  • Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs, and push or carry 25 lbs.
  • Able to safely lift and transfer residents while maintaining proper body mechanics.
  • Must be in designated uniform during working hours, to include name badge.
  • CPR/First Aid certified, or willing to become certified within 60 days of hire.
  • Able to represent the community in a positive and professional manner.
  • Must attend and complete all required in-services and staff meetings.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality care and assistance with activities of daily living to residents.
  • Reports incidents involving residents, including care concerns or issues, to appropriate individuals.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all policies and procedures pertaining to the position.
  • Assists residents with activities of daily living.
  • Performs housekeeping duties such as making resident beds, cleaning resident apartments, common areas, and the dining room.
  • Responds promptly to all resident calls for assistance or emergency alerts.
  • Remains calm and competent during emergencies.
  • Assists in planning and conducting activity programs for residents.
  • Follows confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
  • Assists residents to and from the dining room and to and from activities.
  • Checks on residents to ensure attendance at meals and activities.
  • Checks on residents who are ill and reports status or concerns to appropriate individuals.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing to report resident status, upcoming community information, resident appointments, admissions, and transfers.
  • Assists new residents with move-in transition and provides emotional support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
