About The Position

The Pathways to Care Resident Assistant/ Medical Technician is responsible for assisting facility residents with their daily living needs and program activities while adhering to client schedules. This role involves maintaining appropriate files, ensuring patient records are accurate and complete, providing support to medical staff when needed, and assisting residents with self-administration of medication. The position also requires assisting residents with daily living and hygiene, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and providing assistance with program activities to encourage self-sufficiency and independence. A key aspect of this role is to provide a welcoming atmosphere for clients, visitors, and volunteers.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a residential housing setting or related field
  • Prior experience in working with the homeless population
  • Working knowledge regarding all HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to read, write, and keep accurate records
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment including telephone system, copy machine, FAX, scanner, etc.
  • Appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
  • Public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate or graduate degrees
  • Additional certifications such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Medical Technician (MT)

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with daily living needs and program activities.
  • Adhere to client schedules.
  • Maintain appropriate files and ensure patient records are accurate and complete.
  • Provide support to medical staff when needed.
  • Assist residents with self-administration of medication.

  • Be a role model to clients (residents) to enable residents to be more responsible.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality of all clients (resident) information, following all HIPAA guidelines.

  • Assist Volunteer Coordinator with resident activities as needed.
  • Work in tandem with other Pathways to Care staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records as required.
  • Report the need for any equipment or facility repairs to the supervisor in a timely manner to ensure the safety of staff, residents, visitors, and volunteers.
  • Follow shelter rules and regulations, enforcing them uniformly and consistently.
  • Act in a responsible manner to ensure the safety of clients and property.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of The Diocese of Orlando, Catholic Charities of Central Florida, Inc., and Pathways to Care.
  • Maintain security of files and the facility at all times.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately if any resident is disruptive, argumentative, or otherwise disorderly.
  • Notify the supervisor immediately of any infraction of rules, policies, or procedures committed by any resident so that the situation may be dealt with immediately.
  • Have knowledge of the physical whereabouts of all residents when working any shift.
  • Perform bed checks and document activities of the residents on all shifts.
  • Ensure that all residents are in compliance with the policies and procedures of PTC, documenting any activities that are outside of the norm and reporting the same to both supervisor and Administrator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the PTC programs and be able to assist in activities of any program on an as-needed basis to exhibit teamwork.
  • Participate in all required staff or agency meetings.
  • Participate in all phases of COA (Council on Accreditation) requirements.
  • If using agency vehicle, maintain a proper auto log and report any incidents, accidents, needed repairs, maintenance, etc. to Supervisor immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
