About The Position

This is a part-time Resident Advisor position at Helping Hands, paying $18.90 per hour. The application deadline is Monday, June 8th at 10:00 am. The role involves supervising shelter activities to ensure participant safety, managing shelter intakes, reentry interviews, and after-hours referrals. Responsibilities include timely bunk assignments, dorm inspections, property storage, and maintaining accurate logs, shift reports, and participant records using both manual methods and a web-based program. The position also requires performing urinalysis and breathalyzer testing, attending staff meetings, and facilitating problem-solving and crisis intervention.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills and phone etiquette.
  • Passion for helping others, nonjudgmental and able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways.
  • Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.
  • Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone.
  • Frequently required to move about within the facility for meetings, office equipment, and daily operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct or Lived Experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault.

Responsibilities
