About The Position

Public Education & Business Coalition (PEBC) is a Colorado-based 501(c)3 organization that provides professional development services for practicing educators, locally and nationally, and operates the PEBC Teacher Residency Program that trains well-qualified new teachers for high-needs schools. PEBC’s goal is to provide training and professional learning to cultivate highly effective P-12 educators who are dedicated to students’ social, emotional and cultural needs, as well as growth and achievement. PEBC works closely with practitioners, policymakers, business leaders and other stakeholders to advise the development and implementation of sound P-12 education policy. PEBC is seeking a part-time, hourly contract Residency Coach to support Teacher Residents as they develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to become effective classroom teachers. Through regular coaching cycles, the Residency Coach helps residents apply educational theory and program learning to classroom practice, fostering growth and professional development throughout the residency experience. The Residency Coach works closely with residents, residency team members, and program staff to provide individualized support, attend candidate and team meetings consistently, and leverage their own classroom expertise to help residents successfully transfer learning from program seminars and coursework into practice. This position is assigned a caseload of Teacher Residents for the duration of the 2025–2026 school year, from October 2025 through May 2026, and requires an estimated 10–20 hours of work per week. The Residency Coach reports to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. This is a part-time, hourly contract position based in Denver, Colorado, and operates within a hybrid work setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education.
  • 5+ years of classroom teaching.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Highly reflective mindset with the ability to consider multiple perspectives and adapt coaching approaches accordingly.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive, respectful relationships with residents, mentors, school and district leaders, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to support educators' professional, social, and emotional growth while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Understanding and appreciation for the diverse lived experiences of students, families, and educators.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Academic Standards, educator licensure requirements, and teacher quality standards.
  • Understanding of the opportunities and challenges present in high-needs K–12 learning environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in coaching adult learners and providing constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Proficiency with technology platforms and virtual collaboration tools, or the ability to quickly learn new systems, including Zoom, Edthena, and Canvas.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to team goals through effective communication and partnership.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use new software applications and systems.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and coach candidates enrolled in the PEBC Teacher Residency Program, both in person and virtually, providing feedback, support, interventions, and ongoing evaluation of growth.
  • Track, assess, and document candidate progress against program standards.
  • Provide feedback on licensure and seminar coursework, including assignments, readings, discussions, and other learning activities.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to develop, implement, and monitor candidate support and probation plans when necessary.
  • Participate in regular one-on-one meetings with a Residency Team Director regarding candidate progress, coaching strategies, and program requirements.
  • Attend required Residency Team and Manager of Resident Development meetings to maintain program alignment and calibration.
  • Maintain accurate records, communications, and evaluations related to candidate performance and progress.
  • Support candidates throughout the hiring process by providing resume feedback, cover letter review, interview preparation, letters of recommendation, and other career guidance.
  • Promote PEBC's mission, vision, and programs by cultivating relationships, partnerships, and community connections.
  • Participate in organizational meetings, professional development activities, and other workplace requirements as assigned by the supervisor.
