About The Position

Adult Support Workers at BACI support people to lead a good life. This role works with people to explore dreams and passions providing opportunities for people to develop relationships, find places of belonging in community, have a home they view as a haven and support people to work towards a balanced life which is healthy and safe.

Requirements

Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience.
American Sign Language required.
Current First Aid & CPR, NCI training (both provided by BACI), TB screening.
Valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver’s License required.
Union membership and completion of Criminal Record Search as per the Criminal Record Review Act and up-to-date vaccinations.

Responsibilities

Support people in a shared-living home to have positive control of their home and to be active members of their community
Communicates with people in American Sign Language as their preferred mode of communication
Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices
Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions
Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being
