About The Position

Adult Support Workers at BACI support people to lead a good life. This role works with people to explore dreams and passions providing opportunities for people to develop relationships, find places of belonging in community, have a home they view as a haven and support people to work towards a balanced life which is healthy and safe.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience.
  • American Sign Language required.
  • Current First Aid & CPR, NCI training (both provided by BACI), TB screening.
  • Valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver’s License required.
  • Union membership and completion of Criminal Record Search as per the Criminal Record Review Act and up-to-date vaccinations.

Responsibilities

  • Support people in a shared-living home to have positive control of their home and to be active members of their community
  • Communicates with people in American Sign Language as their preferred mode of communication
  • Ensuring that individuals are connected to friends and family.
  • Providing individuals with the opportunity to make meaningful choices
  • Encouraging and recognizing individuals' contributions
  • Ensuring that individuals are safe and to promote their health and well-being
