About The Position

Mary Cariola Center is seeking a dedicated Residence Manager to oversee the daily operations of a residence, ensuring the well-being and development of residents with developmental disabilities. This role involves supervising direct care staff, implementing policies, managing schedules, and participating in program development. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and experience in a supervisory capacity. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years working with people with developmental disabilities
  • At least 2 out of the 3 years must have been within an OPWDD certified program
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English including interpreting documents such as safety rules and policy and procedure manuals
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team

Responsibilities

  • Assist in interviewing and hiring all direct care staff and other positions as directed.
  • Implement all agency and program-specific policies and procedures, recommending appropriate changes/additions.
  • Provide administrative and professional supervision of all direct care staff (and other designated staff, on occasion) utilizing the Interactional Supervision Model, including maintaining a supervisory log, meeting regularly with each staff member, and providing individual annual evaluations outlining professional development goals.
  • Ensure direct care staff is provided with required/relevant orientations, in-services, and resident-specific trainings.
  • Keep the Director informed of personnel problems, making recommendations for progressive discipline/termination of employment of any staff.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly schedule of direct care staff in accordance with an appropriate staff-to-resident ratio, monitoring overtime hours and actively seeking ways to minimize these hours.
  • Complete quarterly staffing reports.
  • Conduct staff meetings.
  • Communicate all necessary and important information relative to the residents, staff, building, building contents, and community interactions.
  • Responsible for general maintenance and upkeep of the house, including all furnishings and equipment, in conjunction with the Facilities Supervisor and Household Supervisor.
  • Participate in program development, tailored to each resident, as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Work with the residents on their Program Plan and provide them with needed health and physical care, including administering medications.
  • Engage in regular observations of each shift to provide the appropriate oversight and supervision, maintaining a log of observations.
  • Accurately and consistently complete all required documentation practices utilizing the PrecisionCare software and in written form, when necessary.
  • Complete regular documentation audits to ensure accuracy and completeness, forwarding to the business office for billing purposes.
  • Evaluate the self-preservation skills of each resident in the home.
  • Schedule regular practice fire drills and monitor the effectiveness of the emergency evacuation plans.
  • Participate in a variety of meetings with interdisciplinary treatment team members, parents, agency personnel, etc.
  • Available on an on-call basis to deal with emergencies such as hospitalizations, staff problems, household emergencies, etc. (Some emergencies may require on-site direction of staff).
  • Work in conjunction with various school/day service providers to formulate programming and to resolve issues related to school/day service and/or transportation.
  • Coordinate meetings and visits that are relevant to Admission/Discharge procedures in conjunction with the Residential Intake Social Worker.
  • Coordinate and maintain agency specific spending within the limits of the operating budget.
  • Review and sign all receipts to confirm purchases are appropriate.
  • Conduct regular balance checks of house petty cash and the residents' personal allowance kept at the house, ensuring the appropriate documentation is forwarded to the business office for processing.
