About The Position

The Residence Life Department has the highest standards in terms of quality of work and the efficiency with which it is done. Assigned tasks are to be completed in a professional and timely manner to the satisfaction of the Maintenance Staff Supervisors, Director of Residence Life, or other members of the Residence Life Administrative staff. The maintenance staff works in collaboration with the professional maintenance staff to create a safe and welcoming environment for all customers by quickly and with little inconvenience, making repairs to residence halls.

Requirements

  • Employment will require a criminal background check.
  • If you have prior work history within the last seven years with Universities of Wisconsin or State of Wisconsin agencies, a personnel file review check for employee misconduct.
  • References will be asked to answer questions regarding employee misconduct, sexual violence and sexual harassment.
  • Verification of identity and legal right to work in the United States as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act.

Responsibilities

  • Carpentry
  • Painting residence hall rooms or other public areas in the residence halls
  • General maintenance and repair
  • Shoveling snow
  • Cleaning up after jobs & take out garbage
  • Assisting the professional staff with projects and completing work orders
  • Checking rooms for faulty equipment or furniture and making necessary repairs
  • Assisting custodial staff with tasks when deemed necessary
  • Serve as a representative and ambassador of the University and the Residence Life Department
  • Any other tasks assigned by the professional staff or Residence Life Administrative staff.
