About The Position

The Residence Hall Director is responsible for the management of assigned residence halls, coordinating daily workflow and administrative tasks related to hall operations. This includes managing access, maintenance requests, building inspections, and addressing student concerns. The role involves recruiting, training, and supervising student staff (Resident Assistants and/or Graduate Assistants), providing them with continuing education, and scheduling their on-call duties. The Director collaborates with various internal units for residence hall opening/closing and intersession periods, and assists with room reassignments, transfers, and damage control. They conduct facility inspections to ensure safe and clean spaces, maintain office operations, and enforce departmental policies. A key aspect of the role is implementing crisis management and emergency procedures, educating residents on these protocols, and maintaining communication to address residents' educational and physical needs. The Director acts as a primary point of contact for residents and their families, fostering an environment of belonging and encouraging the use of campus resources. They also serve as a Campus Security Authority, develop and implement educational programming and a strategic schedule of events aligned with the department's mission, and manage Living Learning Communities. This includes tracking progress, evaluating program efficacy, and assisting with resident recruitment and retention for these communities. The role involves advising student leaders, managing programming budgets, and coordinating area communications. The Director assists with enforcing the Student Honor Code & Student Conduct Code, collaborates with relevant departments on student conduct programs, and responds to/mediates student and community concerns, including roommate conflicts and conduct violations. They review incident reports, serve as a hearing officer for conduct cases using a restorative action approach, and ensure student staff adhere to reporting processes. The position requires serving in an on-call capacity for campus housing and after-hours emergencies, providing emergency management direction and support. Administrative tasks include readiness checks, logs/reports, and special projects. The Director acts as a liaison to university resources in emergencies and may serve on departmental or university committees. Operation of state vehicles is also expected.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization
  • A Valid Driver's License

Responsibilities
