About The Position

The Resident Hall Director (RD) is responsible for the administration of one or more residence halls housing between 200 and 450 students and actively supports the Department's mission by making them inviting, intellectual, and inclusive communities. The RD supervises 12 Resident Assistants. The RD shares in a weekly living area on-duty rotation and the departmental recess duty rotation. The RD is responsible for a specialty area (i.e. programming, staff development, or administrative) and is the liaison for this area for all student and professional staff in their living area. This is a live-in position, and the incumbent must reside in their assigned on-campus apartment designated by the Department of Residential Life. This is a ten-month college year position, and obligation dates are provided to staff based on the academic calendar.

  • Bachelor's degree from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.
  • Valid Driver's License

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or related field from a college or University accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on call and on duty on a weekly basis to respond to all emergencies, mental health, and enforce University policies.
  • Live-in professional staff responsible for all emergencies.
  • Community building and conflict resolution.
  • Facilities management.
  • Student conduct adjudication.
  • Provide programming and resource for all students.
  • Serve on department, University-wide, and/or divisional committees.
  • Lead and manage direct reports/team providing guidance, support, and performance feedback to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the University's mission.
  • Lead employees for maximum performance and dedication, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Complete performance management feedback and goals timely and per requirements, offering constructive feedback and developing improvement plans.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.
