What does a RESIDENCE COUNSELOR-GROUP HOME do? As a new Residence Counselor in our Group Home, you will embark on an exciting journey filled with meaningful interactions and impactful support. Your daily responsibilities will encompass fostering a safe and nurturing environment for residents and assisting them with daily living skills, while helping to develop their personal goals. Engage in active listening and empathetic communication to build trust and rapport, empowering residents to express their needs and aspirations. Collaborate with a team of dedicated professionals to implement individualized care plans and participate in group activities that promote social skills and community integration. You can anticipate conducting regular assessments to monitor progress, documenting interventions, and effectively communicating changes to the team. A minimum of four years of group home experience is crucial as it provides you with the knowledge and confidence to support residents effectively. A High School Diploma is required, ensuring a foundational understanding of the principles of care and communication. Strong interpersonal skills are vital; you must be empathetic, demonstrating an ability to connect with residents on a personal level and understand their unique needs. Active listening and excellent verbal communication capabilities will enable you to build trust and rapport. Additionally, familiarity with tools and software used for documentation and progress tracking is important for maintaining accurate records and facilitating seamless teamwork.
