About The Position

PLEA Community Services is seeking a Regular Full-Time Residence Coordinator for their Lighthouse team in Maple Ridge, BC. This position requires BCGEU membership and has a proposed start date as soon as possible. The Residence Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the resource, providing ongoing supervision of staff, and evaluating program policies.

Requirements

  • Two-year diploma in a related human/social work field.
  • Three (3) years recent, related experience including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, internal staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients, Family Caregivers, internal staff, professionals and families.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to maintain detailed, confidential reports on the agency's database system.
  • Demonstrated crisis management skills, including the ability to solve problems and make effective decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, make sound decisions and be held accountable for results.
  • Demonstrated ability to be sensitive and understanding of individuals' social realities including issues of race, culture, religion, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, poverty and lifestyle.
  • Knowledge of issues and trends related to the program.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and database systems.
  • Satisfactory Consolidated Criminal Record Clearance (CCRC) through the Ministry of Children and Family Development's Centralized Services HUB.
  • Willingness to complete a Tuberculosis Screening Test prior to the start of employment (Lighthouse only).
  • Must possess a valid Basic First Aid certificate (formerly OFA Level 1) or be willing to obtain one prior to hire.
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle for work-related travel. This position requires travel in the Lower Mainland and the Fraser Valley.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 or 7 B.C. Driver's Licence and suitable driver's abstract/claims history.
  • Documentation that the applicant is legally authorized to work on an ongoing basis in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate the resource's goals, objectives, policies and procedures and ensure the required standards are maintained.
  • Identify both physical and program needs of the resource to appropriate authority.
  • Plan with staff for changes.
  • Schedule, supervise and evaluate staff and monitor daily operations.
  • Assist in recruiting and selecting of staff and provide guidance, training and orientation on policies, procedures, techniques, report preparation or other matters arising in the resource.
  • Identify the needs of staff for professional development.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and participate with staff, families and others in planning and providing client plans, case conferencing, case management and the preparation of related documents and reports.
  • Complete personal service plans for clients.
  • Liase with the community, government, families, officials, professionals, and organization staff and promote community involvement in the program.
  • Ensure the cleanliness, safety, security and maintenance of the resource in accordance with licensing standards either directly or through delegation to staff.
  • Maintain the resource's inventory of supplies.
  • Work as a Youth Care Worker performing the duties as required.
  • Protect and uphold confidentiality.
  • Perform other duties as required.
