•Onsite

About The Position

The Resettlement & Youth Casework Intern supports International Rescue Committee (IRC) resettlement and youth casework teams serving refugees and other eligible humanitarian immigrants as they settle in the United States. Work includes preparing homes before client arrival and helping clients connect with public benefits, schools, transportation, and community services. The intern reports to a caseworker or youth caseworker and performs work in person at the IRC Silver Spring office and in the field, with supervision. The posting will fill two positions: one focused exclusively on adult case management within the resettlement team, and one focused on school-aged youth casework while also supporting the broader resettlement team as needed. The internship is unpaid. Spring 2027 interns are expected to attend an in-person orientation on January 25, 2027. A four-month commitment is specified, and the posting gives differing weekly-hour requirements: 22.5 to 37.5 hours per week in the qualifications and a minimum of 24 hours per week later in the posting. Applicants who are not enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program and are more than 12 months from graduation may apply as volunteers. Selected applicants must complete background checks; the posting asks applicants to make a $30 donation toward the associated costs. Eligible interns may receive $15 per day in per diem reimbursement for food and travel.
