About The Position

This role involves performing various duties within the Reserve Analysis Laboratory, focusing on the testing and analysis of crude clay. Responsibilities include receiving, auditing, compositing, grinding, and screening clay samples. The technician may also be required to collect samples from various plant, mine, and storage locations. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, including the proper use of equipment, handling of chemicals, adherence to safety policies, and participation in safety meetings. The role also involves contributing to process improvements, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, and demonstrating computer proficiency.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license (if required to use a company vehicle).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe use of all equipment/instruments and handling of chemicals and gases.
  • Compliance with all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to immediately report all safety incidents, accidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
  • Participation in regularly scheduled safety meetings.
  • Understanding and compliance with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Ability to perform delegated tasks, including lead safety meetings, housekeeping inspections, completing forms, etc.
  • Participation in the evaluation of different processes and procedures and proposing changes to management.
  • Being a team player.
  • Strong lab sciences/testing background.
  • Organization and cleanliness required to ensure sample integrity.
  • Ability to operate the equipment and instruments needed for the testing of clay samples in a safe and effective manner.
  • Testing carried out following procedures established in the Department’s ISO9000 documentation.
  • Computer proficiency, Microsoft Word and Excel, KAMIN’s Intranet, and the Department’s geological database.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and audit crude clay.
  • Composite and grind crude clay.
  • Screen crude clay for brightness testing.
  • Obtain/retrieve samples from KaMin plants, mines, or storage areas.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the safe use of all equipment/instruments and handling of chemicals and gases.
  • Comply with all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Immediately report all safety incidents, accidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled safety meetings.
  • Understand and comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Accept and perform delegated tasks, including leading safety meetings, housekeeping inspections, and completing forms.
  • Participate in the evaluation of different processes and procedures and propose changes to management.
  • Be a team player.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
