The Department of Physics at Colorado State University has roughly 20 faculty members with research programs in atomic, molecular, and optical physics; condensed matter physics; and high-energy physics and particle astrophysics. This position involves performing modeling and machining of ultrahigh vacuum parts for materials science applications and setting up electronic hardware. The researcher will conduct experiments with a Ba+ ion beam implanted in solid xenon and argon, operate an ion beam and diode or OPO laser, deposit samples, and take spectra of deposited samples.
