Huawei Canada has an immediate permanent opening for a Researcher. The Huawei Human-Machine Interaction Lab unites global researchers, engineers, and designers to redefine human technology relationships through user centered, hands on research. We focus on agentic AI and multimodal interaction (voice, touch, vision, gesture) across smartphones, wearables, and emerging devices—advancing agentic workflows, multi-agent orchestration, and intuitive human-AI interfaces. By tightly integrating sensing, algorithms, and systems, our prototype driven work ships directly to products, enabling seamless task delegation and human AI collaboration at scale. This role involves building and shipping AI/ML capabilities that power next-generation Huawei intelligent products, including smartphones, smart glasses, wearables, and emerging devices. The position requires designing, prototyping, and evaluating deep learning models across vision, language, audio, and video, and advancing their integration into real product experiences. It also involves translating cutting-edge research in generative AI, foundation models, and efficient inference into robust, scalable prototypes and product-ready solutions. The researcher will own end-to-end model development workflows: data curation, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, optimization, and deployment on device or in the cloud. Collaboration with researchers, engineers, designers, and product managers is key to identify high-impact opportunities and deliver measurable user and business outcomes. Contributing to a culture of technical excellence through reproducible experiments, thorough documentation, code review, and knowledge sharing is expected. Publishing and patenting innovations at top-tier venues is also part of the role when appropriate.
