About The Position

Huawei Canada has an immediate opening for a Research Engineer within the Noah’s Ark lab. Founded in 2012, the lab focuses on advancing artificial intelligence and related fields to benefit the company and society. The role involves exploring frontier research goals, including algorithm design, literature review, and data collection and analysis. The researcher will author and co-author papers for top academic conferences and journals, participate in brainstorming sessions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Key responsibilities include analyzing research findings, keeping track of advancements, identifying application opportunities, and presenting findings to stakeholders. The total target annual compensation for this position ranges from $127,000 to $225,000.

Requirements

  • Experience with acoustic/speech/audio project (industry-level or open-source) or a groundbreaking solution for hard problem or impactful research or similar achievement.
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a top university globally.
  • Established yourself in the research communities and/or in the industry with a proven track of record in academic/industry publications, at least one (ACL, ICLR, AAAI, COLING、ICML and NeurIPS etc.).
  • Passion for innovation and a desire to translate research into real-world applications, robust and scalable.
  • Creative, collaborative and innovation-focused.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently to explore frontier research goals, performing tasks such as algorithm design, literature review, and data collection and analysis.
  • Author and co-author research papers for publication in top academic conferences and journals.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute fresh ideas to the research process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., senior researchers, product managers, engineers).
  • Analyze and interpret research findings, drawing insightful conclusions and keep track of the latest advancement in related research and identify opportunities for application with CBG products.
  • Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical concepts.
