The Researcher/Scientist III candidate will study oncogenic human papillomavirus (HPV), including key translational and fundamental aspects related to the development of HPV-associated malignancies. This will involve developing assays for assessing bio-specimens for HPV viability and transmissibility, with potential for additional applications. The role also includes fundamental research on the molecular genetics of HPV in relation to malignancy induction and factors influencing the conversion from latent infection in epithelial and lymphoid tissues to frank malignancy. Furthermore, the position will investigate oncogenic HPV infection in HIV-infected hosts, focusing on unique factors contributing to the development of HPV-associated malignancies in this context. Strong molecular virology training and experience are essential, with a background in engineering virologic test systems and viral culture, particularly in cancer biology and bio-specimen analysis, being advantageous.
