About The Position

Legacy Tree Genealogists is seeking a Professional Genealogist with experience in Canadian genealogy research to join their team. This remote position involves helping clients discover their heritage by conducting in-depth genealogical analysis, composing detailed reports, and potentially contributing to company growth through blog articles and videos. The company has been changing lives for 20 years by answering deep questions about family history.

Requirements

Fluent in English and able to explain genealogy discoveries clearly to clients.
At least 3 years of genealogy experience working with clients (pro-bono or paid).
Completed genealogy training courses.
Experience with one or more of the following geographic genealogy research specialties: Canada, French Canada.
Familiarity with repositories in claimed expertise areas and experience obtaining documents from them.
Experience managing multiple research projects simultaneously.
Passionate about genealogy and a creative problem solver.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and PowerPoint (OneDrive experience is a plus).
Familiarity with genealogical technology such as pedigree software (RootsMagic is used).
Access to a quiet place to work without distractions, a computer, and reliable internet.

Nice To Haves

At least 5 years of genealogy experience working with clients (pro-bono or paid).
A genealogy certificate, related degree, or credentials.
Experience with one or more of the following genealogy research special interests: Canadian dual citizenship, United States Mid-Atlantic, New England, and/or Midwest, England, Scotland, and/or Wales, Ireland (including immigration and within Ireland), Former British Empire countries (Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, or English-speaking Caribbean), Early British genealogy (from the 1700s and earlier).

Responsibilities

Perform in-depth genealogical analysis to solve complex research problems.
Conduct genealogical research online and using records in archives and libraries.
Compose 15+ page narrative reports in English, including citations and research logs.
Share expertise through writing occasional blog articles and creating Q&A videos.
Perform other tasks as opportunities and needs arise.
