About The Position

The Researcher will be responsible for developing and maintaining programming code to transform administrative data into analyzable formats. This role involves writing research briefs and reports, performing statistical modeling and analyses, conducting literature reviews, and collaborating on coding best practices. The position requires proficiency in various analytic software programs and a strong understanding of advanced statistical methodologies. The Researcher will also develop and maintain data visualizations, conduct qualitative research, and present findings to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, social work, public policy, or related field.
  • 24 months of applied research experience working with large-scale child welfare administrative datasets and data systems.
  • 24 months work experience in transferring and integrating large-scale child welfare administrative data for applied research and implementation evaluation.
  • Proficiency in using R, Python, SQL/PostgreSQL, Power BI.
  • Proficiency in advanced statistical methodology, such as multilevel modeling, causal inference, machine learning (ML), along with natural language processing (NLP) and applications of large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the child welfare context.
  • Proficiency in collaborative coding, applying best practices including code review and version control.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Git software or its equivalent and in leading such efforts across projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain programming code that transforms administrative data into analyzable formats and/or that can be utilized for data analysis, with a strong emphasis on generalizability and transparency.
  • Write research briefs and reports for funders and/or publications in peer-reviewed journals, and assists with report production activities, including proofing, formatting and creating tables and graphs.
  • Using R, Python, SQL/PostgreSQL, Power BI and/or other appropriate analytic software programs.
  • Performs statistical modeling and analyses, such as multilevel modeling, causal inference, machine learning (ML), along with natural language processing (NLP) and applications of large language models (LLMs) and artificial intelligence (AI) in the child welfare context.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support study design and analysis.
  • Collaborative coding: automates existing and emerging processes for importing, documenting, integrating, and updating data and collaborates in coding best practices such as code review and version control with experience using Git software or its equivalent and in leading such efforts across projects.
  • Lead and participate in discussions regarding study design and methods, including developing study objectives, sampling strategies, and data collection procedures to achieve study objectives.
  • Lead technical discussions with client information technology staff to ensure the right use of client administrative data to provide the most value for our clients.
  • Develop, employ, and maintain dashboards and other appropriate data visualization techniques to drive assimilation of findings by our clients.
  • Conduct qualitative interviews, support qualitative data collection, and contribute to qualitative data analysis using machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, and/or other artificial intelligence methods.
  • Present research results to external stakeholders and conferences.
