About The Position

The UNH Manchester campus employs a Research Associate (RA) through the New Hampshire INBRE (grant-funded research program, led by Dr. Kyle MacLea. The RA will work jointly with UNH Faculty members Dr. Kristen Johnson and Dr. Mark Scimone as their Principal Investigators. The RA is generally familiar with the skills and techniques used in the Johnson and Scimone labs, including but not limited to mammalian cell culture, biomaterial synthesis, PCR, western blotting, etc.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Life Sciences.
  • Microsoft Office suite of software.
  • Experience with soft biomaterial synthesis.
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and Western blotting.
  • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture.
  • Collaboration-oriented; experience working in research teams.
  • Experience handling bio- and chemical-hazardous materials.
  • Willingness to work during normal summer/winter academic breaks, as requested by the principal investigators.
  • This position will require handling materials including bio- and chemical hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, sharps materials, extreme temperature materials, materials ≤ 40 lbs.
  • Applicants must be able to don appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as related to and required by their duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching protein-based laboratory techniques in an academic setting.
  • Familiarity with differentiation of mammalian cells and immuno-paneling the markers of differentiation.
  • Competence in analysis software, such as JMP.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in achieving the grant goals.
  • Oversee undergraduate students in tasks and skills.
