Research (Entry-level)

University of Pittsburgh•Pittsburgh, PA

About The Position

This position supports newly funded NIH grants using an organ-on-a-chip model to investigate mechanisms of osteoarthritis (OA) and associated pain. The work involves expanding human cells, encapsulating them in 3D scaffolds, and integrating them into bioreactors. After maturation, tissues will be connected through microfluidics to study inter-tissue crosstalk. OA will be modeled using biochemical stimuli and mechanical loading, and tissue phenotypes will be evaluated using qRT-PCR, histology, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or an engineering-related field.
  • Cell culture experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 3D design skills; priority will be given to candidates with these skills.

Responsibilities

  • Expand human cells.
