Research Technologist - Mills Lab
About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Technologist to join a translational research laboratory focused on neuroimmunology, biomarker discovery, and development of advanced immunologic assays. The individual in this role will support ongoing research studies through hands-on laboratory work, experimental organization, data analysis, and maintenance of accurate laboratory records. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, intellectually curious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced research environment that bridges basic science and clinical applications.
Requirements
- Requires bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, other relevant science, or an associate's degree with 6 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Demonstrated writing skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior hands-on laboratory bench experience
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic laboratory techniques and pipetting
- Experience working with 96-well plate-based assays or similar experimental workflows
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain thorough and accurate laboratory documentation
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within a collaborative team environment
- Experience working with human cell lines
- Experience with flow cytometry
- Familiarity with immunologic or protein-based assays (ELISA, cell-based assays, immunofluorescence, etc.)
- Experience with data analysis using RStudio and/or Excel
- Prior exposure to translational, clinical, or neuroimmunology research environments
- Experience handling human biological specimens
Responsibilities
- Perform routine and advanced laboratory procedures in support of research studies and assay development
- Prepare reagents, buffers, samples, and laboratory materials
- Conduct pipetting-intensive experiments and 96-well plate-based assays with precision and consistency
- Maintain accurate and organized laboratory notebooks and experimental records
- Assist with optimization, validation, and troubleshooting of laboratory assays
- Process and organize biological specimens according to laboratory protocols
- Analyze and organize experimental data using Excel, RStudio, or related software tools
- Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and maintaining laboratory organization
- Collaborate with laboratory staff, trainees, and investigators on ongoing projects
- Follow all laboratory safety, biosafety, and quality control procedures
