About The Position

This position will require significant field work in a post-wildfire environment. Duties include conducting tree-level inventory as well as other forest measurements. Fire effects measurements will also be conducted. The candidate will need to be able to allocate and set up field-based plot networks to answer research questions. Data management and statistical analysis will be required as well as technical writing. The candidate may also be required to conduct field work during prescribed fire operations. This job will require independent field work with significant responsibilities. Driving will be required.

Requirements

  • Wildland fire qualifications (FFT2) will be required
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Successful completion of a motor vehicle records check
  • Standard background checks

Nice To Haves

  • A forestry degree, or equivalent, or a combination of education and significant field-based experience
  • Experience on prescribed burns
  • If the candidate has significant field experience but does not current hold FFT2 qualifications, they will need to become qualified soon after starting the position.
