A full-time Research Technologist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Anirban Paul in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey PA. The lab focuses on understanding brain function at the cellular level within the context of development and aging. This role involves daily maintenance of mouse colonies, genotyping, and processing mouse brains for immunostaining and imaging after appropriate training. For qualified individuals, there may be opportunities for independent research. The position also includes responsibility for handling animal health-related issues, regular meetings with lab members and the investigator to assist with maintaining mice records in accordance with IACUC policy. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining lab equipment, ensuring laboratory safety and biosafety standards, ordering supplies, and updating lab inventories. Proficiency in basic computer applications like Microsoft Word and Excel is essential. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn new techniques, demonstrate responsibility, be self-motivated, conscientious, adaptable, a strong communicator, and possess excellent organizational skills. This position will be filled at either the Professional or Intermediate Professional level, depending on the candidate's qualifications. A Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Additional education and/or experience may be required for higher-level positions. This is a limited-term position funded for one year from the date of hire, with the possibility of renewal.
