About The Position

Under general direction, the Research Technologist II carries out experimental design for sponsored research projects, including compiling and analyzing generated data. The role performs routine and complex experiments, supports research protocols and laboratory operations, maintains accurate records, and helps evaluate the quality and validity of experimental data.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; appropriate experience may substitute for education on an equivalent basis.
At least 1 year of experience.
Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
Skills in data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing.

Responsibilities

Carry out routine and complex experiments.
Monitor inventory, order laboratory supplies, and maintain adequate inventory.
Prepare media and maintain cells using various culturing techniques.
Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff, and evaluate or interpret data validity as needed.
Oversee daily laboratory operations in the absence of the supervisor or principal investigator.
Assist in developing and implementing research protocols.
Record and compile accurate records and communicate summaries of experimental results.
Help evaluate, interpret, and assess experimental data and perform quality control of assays.
Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on specialized research equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
