About The Position

The Research Technician will work in the Yang Laboratory and contribute to its cardiovascular research efforts. Under the close supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manager, the technician conducts experiments using established procedures and protocols, including molecular biology techniques. The role also involves documenting test results, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and working with and teaching veterinary students in the lab.

This is a grant-funded, two-year limited-term position with the potential for extension. It is not eligible for severance pay.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related science discipline.
• Knowledge and skills typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in science and up to one year of laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

• One to three years of related scientific work experience.
• Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine experiments according to appropriate protocols and procedures.
• Perform laboratory techniques such as tissue culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, electrophoresis, protein purification, and other molecular biology procedures.
• Record results and maintain accurate experiment records.
• Perform limited data interpretation and assist with basic statistics and analysis.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and order and track inventory of supplies.
• Prepare stock solutions, reagents, and other media.
• Work with and teach veterinary students in the Yang Laboratory.
