Responsible for performing standard and investigative laboratory work in support of scientific research by performing bench-level experiments, operating analytical instruments, recovering, compiling and verifying the accuracy of research data; performing calculations; preparing charts, graphs and summaries.

Requirements

  • Research Technician I: Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated scientific knowledge in the area of study.
  • Demonstrated basic laboratory skills.
  • Research Technician II: Bachelor’s degree in related scientific field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a lab outside of school coursework.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in biological science.
  • Previous experience using primary B cells, Crispr-Cas9 editing and ELISA.
  • Experience with cell culture, multicolor flow cytometry, and/or molecular biology techniques e.g. quantitative PCR.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and oral) plus an ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Highly motivated, possess a high level of initiative and attention to details.
  • Capable of working independently on multiple projects in a team environment.
  • Knowledge or experience maintaining and ordering materials in addition to excellent record keeping skills.
  • Familiarity with computer programs including Microsoft Office, FlowJo, GraphPad Prism, and/or similar products.

Responsibilities

  • Processing and analysis of primary blood and tissue samples for flow cytometry, PCR, sterile cell culture work with a focus on stem cells.
  • Gene editing, virus production, and biochemical readouts.
  • Sample processing and analysis from preclinical modeling experiments.
  • Developing/utilizing both tissue culture and molecular biology skills.
  • Working with potentially infectious material and biosafety level 2+ techniques.
