About The Position

We are looking for a Research Technician - R&D to join our RG team in Vidalia, LA. At BASF, we create chemistry through the power of connected minds. As a Research Technician in the Vidalia R&D group, you will be responsible for a variety of lab-based tasks to support the BASF Catalysts’ Adsorbent Solutions division. The position is focused on preparing and analyzing samples, generating data, implementing test protocols, documenting results, and digitally organizing all data related to laboratory and developmental efforts. The technician will routinely collaborate with team members, manufacturing partners and business personnel to achieve success.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a scientific field like Chemistry, Engineering or related degree or have equivalent blend of knowledge and experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a research laboratory or related setting.
  • Experience in solids handling, materials development and/or alumina-based manufacturing.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, creating laboratory reports including tables and graphs and presenting data.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

  • Operating laboratory equipment and executing routine and non‑routine experiments safely and efficiently to support research, development, and scale‑up activities.
  • Practicing strong safety awareness and housekeeping when working with chemicals of varying hazard levels, while maintaining a clean, compliant laboratory environment.
  • Preparing samples and managing analytical testing both on‑site and through external BASF analytical laboratories, ensuring accuracy and traceability of results.
  • Documenting experimental work clearly and thoroughly, including organized record‑keeping, technical reporting, and timely communication of results or anomalies to management.
  • Interpreting experimental data through critical thinking, generating meaningful insights, and creating graphs and charts to support project goals and customer needs.
  • Supporting lab operations through equipment calibration and maintenance, consumables inventory management, digitalization efforts, and collaboration with cross‑functional teams, including manufacturing.
  • Exhibiting a positive attitude and team-oriented behaviors, intent on learning and continuous improvement.
