The Department of Environmental Health Sciences at Tulane University invites applications for a Research Technician III to work on an Office of Naval Research (ONR)-funded project, “Environmental Risk Factors Associated with Marine Mammal Health.” The technician will work closely with Dr. Tiong Aw to develop environmental sampling and sequencing protocols for bacterial and fungal pathogens, including antimicrobial-resistant pathogens, using a novel, portable long-read sequencing method. The role also assists with day-to-day laboratory operations while the technician works on an independent research project. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension for one additional year based on performance and funding availability. Applicants should submit a CV with contact information for three references. Employees who contact or are exposed to animals or animal tissues must successfully complete the required annual occupational health screening. Selected candidates in those roles must also pass a background check and occupational health screening as a condition of employment; drug screening is required for identified jobs. These checks occur after a conditional offer of employment.
