About The Position

Successful candidates will work in Dr. Jae Ho Lee’s lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Primary responsibilities will include maintaining, organizing, and ordering lab reagents and glassware. In addition, the candidate will work with Dr. Lee to design and perform experiments to interrogate mechanisms that ensure proper biogenesis of proteins. The candidate is expected to learn and develop new experimental techniques. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills to work with other members of the lab, and strong organizational skills to keep the lab organized. Assist with research projects. Maintain and organize lab reagents. Clean and sterilize lab glassware. Participate in weekly meetings.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • In lieu of the degree, two (2) years of full-time experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots may be considered.
  • One (1) year of full-time experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with other members of the lab.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep the lab organized.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or related discipline, in hand by start date.
  • Experience performing standard biochemistry techniques such as cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and western blots.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research experiments in the field of ribosome biology within the predetermined research scope and methodology.
  • Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
  • Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations.
  • May also assist in grant writing.
  • Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
