About The Position

The Research Technician II will support ongoing neuroscience research projects in Dr. Inoue’s laboratory, with a focus on neural circuit imaging and development of advanced optical tools. Responsibilities will include assisting with routine experimental procedures, viral delivery, imaging data collection, and basic data analysis. Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials. Dr. Inoue’s laboratory at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology investigates how neural circuits drive behavior using cutting-edge technologies, including near-infrared sensors and brain-wide imaging approaches. The lab combines protein engineering, systems neuroscience, and in vivo imaging to address fundamental questions in brain function and disease. This is a part-time, flexible position designed for approximately two days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, animal handling, preparation of solutions, data collection and basic analysis and setup and maintenance of equipment and records.
  • May assist with standard molecular biology and imaging procedures as needed.
  • Performs routine laboratory procedures and supports ongoing research activities under general supervision.
  • Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
  • Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
  • Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with institutional policies and safety regulations.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
