About The Position

The Zolkind Lab is a translational head and neck cancer lab investigating novel models of treatment resistance and therapeutic targets. This is a "bench-to-bedside" lab incorporating cell culture, mouse models and human tumor specimens. The lab operates closely with the Major and Goldfarb labs and provides a rich environment of education with weekly lab meetings and education seminars. There are numerous scientists, postdocs, and students in the lab and this provides ample opportunity to learn, grow, and develop new techniques and expertise in this position. Depending on candidate interest, there are also opportunities for clinical exposure in the clinic and operating room. Assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education.
• No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment.
• Performs data entry and maintains data files on research.
• Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
• Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
• Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
• Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
