About The Position

The Chung Lab at UT Southwestern (UTSW) studies cancer biology and stem cells, with a focus on leukemia, other bone marrow cancers, and hematopoietic stem cell biology. We are looking for highly motivated individuals who are passionate about scientific and/or clinical research. In our lab we leverage cutting-edge technology to study normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology, with extensive use of mouse models of bone marrow failure and leukemia, as well as stem cell transplantation assays. We also study patient specimens derived from the clinical programs at UTSW through the Hematologic Malignancies Tissue Bank, of which Dr. Chung is the Director. Individuals who join the lab will have the opportunity to interact and collaborate with the rich community of basic and translational scientists at UTSW, as well as a team of medical oncologists specializing in hematologic malignancies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree With major coursework in field of assignment and no experience or Two (2) years of college with emphasis in coursework in field of assignment or High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • No experience required with Bachelor's Degree or 2 years of laboratory experience at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with two (2) years of college or 4 years of laboratory experience including two years at level of Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School Graduation or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience working in a biology research lab.
  • Undergraduate coursework with a focus on biology and chemistry.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine scientific and medical research work in science area such as biology, chemistry, physics, or other related scientific field.
  • Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
  • Records research data in accordance with prescribed procedures, discussing results with supervisor.
  • Assists in collection of data for project reports.
  • Reads literature and confers with supervisor concerning implementation of new procedures.
  • May plan for, and provide working supervision to, work of laboratory personnel of lower grade engaged in limited phase of research project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
