Research Technician I, Anesthesiology & Pain Mgmt
About The Position
Works under general supervision to provide routine technical assistance in performance of assignments requiring basic knowledge of fundamental techniques and practices related to particular field of science. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual with a positive attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills when interacting with patients, clinical staff, and research teams. This role requires flexibility, including occasional evening or weekend work to assist with research activities. The schedule includes rotating and overlapping shifts with another research technician.
Requirements
- Completion of two (2) years of college or specialized training in histology, medical technology or relevant field or High School Diploma including courses in basic sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, etc. or GED Equivalent
- 1 year of experience as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with Completion of two (2) years of college or
- 3 years of laboratory experience including two years as Laboratory Technical Assistant or equivalent with High School diploma or GED equivalent
Nice To Haves
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Clinical experience or medical knowledge (e.g., scribing, patient care support) or prior research experience
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, such as Epic
- Experience with Electronic Data Capture systems, such as REDCap or other clinical research databases
Responsibilities
- Identify, recruit, consent, and enroll eligible patients into clinical trials in accordance with study protocol and regulatory guidelines
- Conduct patient follow-up through phone and in-person communication, in both English and Spanish
- Collect, process, and manage biological specimens following safety protocols and operate various laboratory equipment and apparatus
- Accurately enter and maintain patient and study data in Academic and Research systems and research databases
- Assist with study initiation, device preparation, and research coordination activities
- Provide support in clinical areas, including the operating room, for study-related procedures
- Collaborate with team members and report to supervisory staff
- Assists in conducting experiments and working on research problems in such fields as physiology, bacteriology, tissue culture, chemistry, and other related fields by performing basic, routine, and least complex procedures as prescribed by supervisor.
- Assembles and/or operates various laboratory equipment and apparatus.
- Records resulting data in accordance with established methods.
- Confers with supervisor concerning results obtained, and modifies procedures in accordance with instruction of supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
