Research Technician I - Stuart Lab
About The Position
The Stuart Lab is seeking a motivated laboratory technician to support research in malaria immunology and the cell and molecular biology of protozoan pathogens. The lab studies immune responses to malaria vaccines to inform vaccine development, as well as fundamental cellular and molecular biology of microbial pathogens and their interactions with the host. The successful candidate will work accurately and independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment. Prior experience with cell culture and standard cell, molecular, and immunological techniques is highly desired; a willingness and ability to learn new techniques and an interest in basic and translational science are also desirable. Research takes place in Seattle’s interactive research environment, near the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of science or technology, or college-level coursework in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or a related science curriculum and equivalent laboratory experience.
- Ability to work accurately and independently, as well as collaboratively.
- Willingness and ability to learn new techniques.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in cell culture and standard cell, molecular, and immunological techniques.
- A deep interest in basic and translational science.
- Research experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and tissue culture techniques.
- Data entry and/or word processing experience.
- Experience analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis.
- Two years of experience in a laboratory or research setting.
