About The Position

The Research Technician I performs entry level, semi-skilled, technical support research work involving performance of routine tasks. This is a part-time position. Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. Location/Schedule: Bryan, TX/ Part-Time; May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours and may travel as required. Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of related experience.
Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
Ensure attention to detail.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.
Working experience in a neuroscience EEG research lab.
Knowledge of advanced brain EEG software.
Experimental neural techniques and analysis.
Behavioral studies and interpretation.
Stereology and histology knowledge.
Pharmacological studies and data compilation experience in a research lab.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Experience working with individuals and communities.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret brain EEG recording, analysis and pattern formations.
Ability to organize, conduct and report pharmacological studies and experiments.
Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation and analysis.
Ability to read temporo-spatial progression of seizures, and behavioral patterns.
Ability to help research staff with advancing experimental studies and support with the neural techniques.

Responsibilities

Assists and performs experiments procedures involving brain EEG recording.
Assists with neuroscience EEG analysis studies.
Assists with performing technical operations relevant to specialized electrodes and EEG tools.
Assists personnel involved in a series of stereology and histology studies.
Assists and performs pharmacological studies and data compilation in the lab.
Makes and records of behavioral observations and EEG recording traces.
Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.
Assists senior staff members in conducting major field experiments and consults in developing procedures.
Assists with the maintaining records on research experiments.
Assists undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
Participates in training and professional development sessions as needed.
