This position is for a Research Technician to assist and support scientific investigation for a women’s health study in the College of Medicine. The technician will independently conduct assigned experiments using a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures. Responsibilities include performing PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis. The role also involves sorting and processing tissue and blood samples, testing and evaluating current procedures, and performing routine procedures on lab animals. The technician will record, consolidate, and assist with the analysis of research results, and help evaluate the validity of data. They will also summarize data for grant proposals and manuscripts, prepare research progress reports, and assist the principal investigator with publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts. Additionally, the role includes conducting library research on requested topics, maintaining accurate records of laboratory activities, and assisting with training junior research staff and undergraduate students. The technician will set up and operate laboratory equipment, monitor research supplies and inventory, and initiate procurement requests.
