About The Position

The Research Technician will support ongoing research activities in the Salazar‑Puerta Laboratory within the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The laboratory focuses on translational and regenerative biomedical research, including tissue engineering, biomaterials, and in vivo models. The technician will assist multiple team members while independently managing at least one research project under the supervision of the principal investigator. Responsibilities include performing molecular, cellular, and histological techniques such as Western Blots, RNA extraction, qRT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, tissue sectioning, histological and immunofluorescent staining, microscopy imaging, and quantitative image and data analysis. The individual will conduct routine laboratory animal work in compliance with approved protocols, including tissue collection and processing. The technician will assist with experimental design and execution, maintain accurate and organized laboratory records, and analyze and consolidate experimental data. They will contribute to the preparation of figures, summaries, and reports for manuscripts, abstracts, and fellowship applications. Additional duties include setting up and maintaining laboratory equipment, monitoring laboratory inventory, and coordinating procurement of supplies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
