The Research Technician contributes to research in the Sabino and Cottone Laboratories investigating the neurobiology of addiction, stress, motivation, and related neuropsychiatric disorders. The position performs and assists with behavioral, surgical, molecular, histological, and imaging procedures in rodent models; collects, organizes, and analyzes research data; maintains the animal colony; and contributes to laboratory operations in accordance with institutional animal care, biosafety, and research protocols. The role requires strong organizational, communication, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills; effective time and priority management; attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team. The Research Technician must meet project deadlines, perform precise laboratory work, and adapt to changing conditions and research priorities, demonstrating dependability, professional maturity, ethical and integrity standards, persistence in addressing research challenges, resilience under pressure, and receptiveness to constructive feedback. The role requires proficiency with digital image analysis and fluorescence quantification applications for cell counting and tissue microscopy analysis and with statistical and scientific graphing software for data analysis, statistical functions, and preparation of publication-ready figures. Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for data tracking and presentation is also required.
