About The Position

This is a grant-funded position funded until August 1, 2028. The Research Technician 2 assists in the application of advanced biochemical technologies to support research on the cerebrovascular mechanisms of vulnerability to psychoactive substances during early development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
  • OR a combination of college coursework and work experience to equal four (4) years.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail for record keeping.
  • Ability adherence to sterile protocols during experimental procedures.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in development of biochemical procedures aimed at elucidation of biochemical mechanisms that drive pathology of fetal cerebrovascular system under the direction of the PI.
  • Performs brain dissections and tissue collection (cerebral arteries) to support proteomics, oxygen consumption, and vascular leakage studies.
  • Manages the record-keeping and documentation for daily lab activities, including lab notes reflecting progress with experimental activities.
  • Ensure the integrity of experimental data through meticulous adherence to protocols and detailed documentation.
  • Performs data analysis and applies statistical methods to evaluate results, under the direction of the PI.
  • Prepare procedure area and sterilize instruments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
