About The Position

The Mackey Lab seeks to hire a Research Technician 1 to support ongoing research through computational data analysis and laboratory experimentation. The successful candidate will analyze existing datasets using the Ohio Supercomputer Cluster via command-line tools in RStudio and contribute to wet lab research investigating interactions between bacterial species and host plants. This role also includes participation in manuscript preparation for publication.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
0 years of relevant experience required
Basic familiarity or willingness to learn R, command-line environments, and data analysis tools
Ability to work both independently and as part of a research team
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Experience with RStudio, bioinformatics, or use of high-performance computing systems
Laboratory experience in microbiology, plant biology, or a related field
Interest in plant–microbe interactions and scientific research

Responsibilities

Analyze previously generated datasets using RStudio and command-line tools on the Ohio Supercomputer Cluster
Perform and support wet lab experiments investigating interactions between bacterial species and plant hosts
Assist in maintaining laboratory workflows and experimental protocols
Accurately record, manage, and interpret experimental and computational data
Contribute to drafting, editing, and finalizing scientific manuscripts for publication
Collaborate with lab members to advance research objectives and project goals
