About The Position

The Research Foundation of SUNY is seeking a Research Support Specialist to support Dr. Bergan in the Stony Brook Cancer Center. This role involves operating scientific research equipment, carrying out test procedures, and collating and interpreting data using special methods in support of research projects. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail. The ability to work independently and collaboratively is essential, as is demonstrating professional competence in research activities.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology, Biochemistry or closely related field.
Experience working in a Research/Wet lab Laboratory environment.
Experience operating scientific research equipment which can include but not limited to quantitative PCR and/or confocal microscopy.
Experience carrying out physical, biochemical or biological based test procedures.
Experience collecting, storing, analyzing and interpreting data.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or Biochemistry or related field.
Experience with rat/mouse animal handling.

Responsibilities

Perform laboratory maintenance to ensure a safe working environment in compliance with university regulations.
Conduct experiments, provide technical laboratory support and /or animal handling to assist with experiments conducted.
Perform literature search; staying current in the field by reading and discussing the literature and experimental results with the supervisor and/or PI.
Collect data, record observation measurements and prepare reports for review of supervisor and or PI.
Other duties or projects as assigned.
