About The Position
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified hourly, part time Research Support Assistant II for a short-term position to investigate neural activity and serotonin biosensor signals obtained from brain tissue in preclinical models of stress and fear generalization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in science and/or information technology
- At least (1) Year experience with Python and MATLAB
- At least (1) Year experience analyzing time series signals
- At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic classification models in NumPy, SciPy, and SciKit-learn
Nice To Haves
- At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic modeling or dynamical systems
- Familiarity with neuroscience or biosensor data
- Prior exposure to HiddenMarkov Models or representational similarity analysis
Responsibilities
- Preprocessing and normalization of simultaneous neural activity and serotonin signals
- Implementing and validating three computational analyses: multivariate Hidden Markov Models, Representational Similarity Analysis, and linear decoding with permutation testing
- Extracting per-animal metrics for group-level statistical comparison
- Generating publication-quality figures
