About The Position

The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified Research Support Assistant II for a short-term position. This role involves investigating neural activity and serotonin biosensor signals obtained from brain tissue in pre-clinical models of stress and fear generalization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science and/or information technology
  • At least (1) Year experience with Python and MATLAB
  • At least (1) Year experience analyzing time series signals
  • At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic classification models in NumPy, SciPy, and SciKit-learn

Nice To Haves

  • At least (1) Year experience with probabilistic modeling or dynamical systems.
  • Familiarity with neuroscience or biosensor data.
  • Prior exposure to HiddenMarkov Models or representational similarity analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Preprocessing and normalization of simultaneous neural activity and serotonin signals.
  • Implementing and validating three computational analyses: multivariate Hidden Markov Models, Representational Similarity Analysis, and linear decoding with permutation testing
  • Extracting per-animal metrics for group-level statistical comparison.
  • Generating publication-quality figures.
