About The Position

While working closely with research personnel, participates actively in a structured learning experience in the laboratory or clinical research setting. Gains hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, clinical settings, data collection and analysis and/or other related skills to explore careers in biomedical and/or clinical research.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • May be accepted/enrolled in an accredited college or university as a medical student, MA/MS student or other graduate program student. (EXCLUDES students in a PhD program)
  • This position is not applicable to anyone who has completed all requirements for master’s or other advanced degree.
  • Approval of the HR Director and Associate Chief of Research Training is required for candidates that have already completed a master's degree.
  • This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • None required.
  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
  • Ability to distinguish color.
  • Manual dexterity to handle specimens and repair equipment.
  • Ability to lift and transport equipment or specimens weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, etc.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal equipment required.

Nice To Haves

  • Students with previous clinical research or research laboratory experience are often preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Student will begin learning laboratory techniques to support ongoing research projects in the laboratory or clinical setting with minimal supervision.
  • Student will begin learning how to record and analyze data related to research experiments or other data sets with minimal supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned.
