About The Position

Dr. Ashley Jordan has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic research specialist in the Development of Intergroup Social Cognition (DISC) Lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. This position will entail contributing to the development of research studies; recruiting, conducting, and managing ongoing research projects; establishing, maintaining, and revising (as needed) lab policies, procedures, and logistics; coordinating with undergraduate research assistants; working with children, adults, and community partners to further research objectives; contributing to the development of research output; and engaging with the broader psychology community at UW-Madison. This position can be full or part-time, between 50-100% FTE.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience conducting psychological or closely related research
  • Experience working with youth, parents, and staff from various backgrounds
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication and public relation skills
  • Experience exhibiting strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Experience using REDCap Software

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming experiments using study design software (e.g., Qualtrics; PsychoPy) and/or using statistical software (e.g., R)
  • Experience effectively recruiting and working with members of communities who are marginalized or underrepresented in academic psychology (e.g., communities of color; LGBTQ+ communities)
  • Experience presenting research at undergraduate or professional meetings

Responsibilities

  • Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
  • Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
  • Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
  • Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
  • Performs literature reviews and writes reports
  • Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
