Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator. May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation. Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases. Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations. Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents. Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator. Assist with the execution of molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell-based laboratory experiments under the supervision of the principal investigator and senior laboratory personnel. Perform routine laboratory procedures and biochemical techniques. Maintain accurate experimental records using electronic laboratory notebooks and institutional databases. Analyze and organize experimental data for laboratory meetings, presentations, manuscripts, and grant-related reporting. Participate in preparation and maintenance of laboratory reagents, solutions, media, and laboratory inventories. Collaborate effectively with students, trainees, and laboratory staff in a multidisciplinary research environment. Participate in general laboratory organization, safety compliance, sterilization procedures, and maintenance of shared laboratory spaces and equipment. May assist with onboarding and training of undergraduate students or new laboratory personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain detailed experimental records and manage research data in electronic laboratory notebooks or computer databases.
  • Ability to independently follow established protocols while contributing to collaborative research projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Prior undergraduate or post-baccalaureate research experience in an academic, clinical, or government laboratory setting preferred.
  • Participate in group meetings and share research progress.
