About The Position
To conduct weed science research leading to efficient and effective weed control in agronomic and vegetable crops for the farmers of Virginia through a better understanding of herbicide activity. Helping students and staff on smart farming studies involving UAV, and robots. May carry or use a firearm as a part of daily responsibilities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of general agriculture, especially production, and, in particular, weed science.
- Experienced in small plot design herbicide applications and analysis of data.
- Experienced to handle research and farm equipment.
- Skills and experience in filing and organizing data.
- Ability to interpret data.
- Conducting field surveys for herbicide-resistance evaluations.
- Ability to meet and communicate with diverse groups, which may include growers, extension agents, scientists in industry and university systems.
- Knowledgeable about working on computer, using excel, word, and powerpoint and using data entry software.
